Karate kid ~Takashi Katada~
My career in karate began in a similar fashion as in the 1984 movie “Karate Kid”.
First of all, the reason I decided to write this article is that I don’t have the same sense as everyone else, and I can’t remember a skill without practicing 3-4 times as much as others.
By writing about how I overcame my own shortcomings and seized my dream, I hope to help others to realize they can do it too.
Part 1.
1) Why did I start karate?
When I was seven years old, I lost a seven-on-one fight and came home crying.
~The desire to become strong~
In the first year of elementary school, a transfer student came to my small-town elementary school. He was the biggest in class and soon everyone was at his beck and call. One day after school, when I was about to leave after playing soccer with everyone, he took my bag by mistake. He ordered me to bring him his bag. I said, “No! You’ve made a mistake, so get it yourself! That trivial thing started the fight. Everyone supported him and naturally, I lost the seven-on-one fight and went home crying.
Seeing this, my father said, “You can either go to his place and fight with them one more time one-on-one or you can go to the nearby karate dojo, do karate and get stronger.”
The Karate Kid “Little Katata”, who had already lost his will to fight, naturally decided to do karate.
